How to book a work Christmas party venue in Sydney

  • Book early for Thursdays and Fridays. Late November to mid-December is peak season, and harbourside rooms go first. If you're late, a Monday to Wednesday, or a lunch, is far easier to land.
  • Check the minimums. Many venues set a minimum number of guests or a minimum spend on peak nights. Fantasea Joy, for example, needs 50 guests on Friday and Saturday evenings in November and December.
  • Have a wet-weather plan. Rooftops and balconies are glorious until a summer storm rolls in. Ask what happens if it rains, or pick a venue with a roof that closes, like The Rook.
  • Think about getting home. Circular Quay, Wynyard and Town Hall are easy for trains and ferries; boats return to the wharf they left from.

Need a theme or activity, not just a room? See our work Christmas party ideas, and for year-round options our corporate event venues.

Entertainment for your Christmas party

Once the venue's locked, book entertainment that suits the room. Roving acts suit stand-up cocktail parties; a short stage set suits a seated dinner. Sydney mentalist Cameron Leo (who runs this site) offers both, and his website notes that September to December is peak season, so enquire early. For more options, see our corporate entertainers and roving entertainment guides.
