The City calls it the tallest Christmas tree in NSW, and it's decorated with more than 110,000 LED lights and 15,000 flowers from nine native species. It's lit on Thursday 26 November 2026 after Santa's free sleigh ride from Customs House Square, and there's a light show every 15 minutes from 8pm to midnight until 5 January 2027.

Giant tree under the Queen Victoria Building dome
Each Christmas the Queen Victoria Building usually puts up a giant tree under its central dome, rising through three floors of the heritage arcade. Recent trees have been inspired by the Wollemi Pine and made with First Nations artists from the Boomalli Aboriginal Artists Co-operative. The QVB also runs a ticketed Santa Experience on Level 2.
